By connecting health research and education organisations across Australia, AARNet enables collaboration between the higher education and health sectors.

How we support the health research community

AARNet connects health research and education organisations across Australia – enabling collaboration between the higher education and health sectors, and advancing health research and education between people and organisations separated by distance.

We support the development of national and international collaborations in the health research community through our eResearch group.

As a founding member of the Asia Pacific Advanced Network (APAN), which incorporates a Medical Working Group, AARNet is a leader in the field of international health collaboration.  This working group uses high definition video conferencing over reserch network infrastructure to deliver training to surgeons across the Asia Pacific and beyond.

AARNet is assisting with the deployment of the eduroam wireless network to health precincts in Queensland and New South Wales, and is working toward the same goal in other states.  This initiative supports mobility in the health research sector by enabling university staff and students to access networks easily and securely when they visit hospital campuses.

AARNet is focused on providing unequalled networking and collaboration services to enable Australia’s health research and education organisations reach the goal of working seamlessly together to undertake essential health research and education across the nation’s vast distances.

You can learn more about how AARNet supports organisations and institutions involved in health research and education from Case Studies and stories posted on our AARNews website.
